Yesterday I was at a local gun shop when a customer brought in a Colt Dragoon. It appeared to be a Model #3 in original condition. It had been converted to metallic cartridge at some point to shoot 44 colt. What was really amazing about this weapon is that it had the loading gate and ejector on the left instead of the right. Has anyone ever seen a colt revolver with the gate on the left. It was a gunsmith conversion for sure but an excellent job. I wanted to hold that thing but didn't have the courage to ask.

Wow, what a neat-O piece of history to see!
A goodly number of those guns were converted in the period right after the "War of Northern Aggression".
Those guys back then liked state of the art just like we do now. :D
