My local shop tells me that there are going to be thumbhole stocks available for the whole Saiga line soon. Imagine that on a Saiga-12 or a Saiga-20 shotgun!!! Think about it!! It'll also kind of jazz up the regular Saiga 7.62x39 and .223s as well. On the .308, it'd practically make an ersatz Dragunov.

Nothing that can't be fixed by proper application of an ATF-legal conversion kit, putting that AK back into an original pistol grip and buttstock configuration. Wes over at Soupbowl Enterprises is working on that very thing. I'm considering it for my .45-70 autoloading rifle, based on a .410 Saiga shotgun... ;)

Yes but for the shotguns it's a plus because you cannot put pistol grips on those.

I thought a thumbhole stock was considered the same as a pistol grip?

MMcCall:
Last I heard (and considering ATF rulings change practically weekly), so this info might be out of date:
For importation, a thumbhole isnt a pistol grip.
For AW ban, a thumbhole is a pistol grip.

Only the ATF could think up that little bit of logic...

Well, there goes that idea for the shotguns anyway. Oh well, they're the Saigas that actually are quite nice with the stock they have.

Kharn: That's absurd! (the ATF ruling I mean, not your saying it :))

I had my eye on a Saiga 12 for a while, but I'm going to wait and see what happens next year with the AWB. If nothing new comes down the pike before the susnet, I'll grab one and trick it out. Should be able to get the real mags then, as well.
