Welcome to THR, the iron horse.

What are the firecrackers and wire for?

This is pretty standard for me:

http://www.rantingredneck.com/evolution/media/Everything%20but%20the%20kitchen%20sink.JPG

Yes I actually carry all that stuff every day (with some rare exceptions):

1) Ruger P345 in Bianchi Minimalist goes on belt at appendix position.

2) Spare mag in carrier goes in left front pocket. That carrier keeps it well in position.

(When I get to work these two items stay in the truck console.)

3) Leatherman multitool goes on belt at 4:00 horizontally.

4) CRKT Crawford Falcon clips inside left rear pocket or in leg pocket if wearing certain cargo type pants.
5) Sabre defense spray clips inside left front pocket (usually goes in laptop case or in truck when I get to work)

6) Gerber mini folder used as money clip goes in right front pocket along with

7) Leatherman micra.

8) cell phone goes in shirt pocket or in belt carrier at 7:00

9) Wallet in right rear pocket.

Some days I will leave the Leatherman or the Pepperspray behind at home or in my truck (I keep a spare multitool in the truck anyway). If I know I'm going to be out at night I'll pocket a minimaglite that stays in the truck for that purpose, or a surefire.

I carry way too much crap around

"Welcome to THR, the iron horse.

What are the firecrackers and wire for?"

Thanks hso,

I've been browsing here for a few years and have learned a lot.
This is a great community.

The firecrackers are just in case I ever need to make a loud noise. It goes back to a few years ago when I had to scare some dogs out from under our house. I threw in a pack of firecrackers.

The wire? I live on a small farm and I need wire to mend fences or to tightened loose hoses on tractors and etc....just started keeping a small roll in my wallet.

And I think I watched to much McGyver :)

If I could carry duct tape in my pocket I would.

One thing I forgot in my original post:
stout metal pen in my left shirt pocket

One thing I will add that I saw on several replies is a small flashlight.
Good item

I do not have CCWP yet, but I will soon.

Ok. I usually never wear pants with fewer than six pockets. Left Thigh is mobile phone and extra space. Left front pocket is keys and my 5.11 freebie knife. Right front is usually my Kahr PM40 in a pocket holster unless I am carrying something on my hip. Right thigh is my Fenix P3D light. Right rear is my pocket calendar. Left Rear is my reload.

I also usually carry my Gerber Hinderer rescue knife and a small pouch with a pocket mask and two pairs of nitrile gloves on my belt just about 4 o'clock or so.

On belt: Leatherman Crunch and Fox Pepper Spray

Left front pocket: Clipped to front left pocket either a Spyderco Endura 4, or Spyderco Delica 4. Inside left front pocket: Surefire E1e flashlight, Spyderco Ladybug w/attached Doug Ritter Freedom Photon, Fisher Bullet Pen, Sportsman Lighter

I work out of state, and there is no reciprocity agreement. When at work, without my CCW, some contents are switched from left pocket to right to even things out. Also the Endura is not legal there, so when at work I carry the Delica.

Right front pocket: Either a Kel-tec P32 or a Glock 26

Left rear pocket: Keys

Right rear pocket: Wallet

When outdoors I’ll add: Doug Ritter personal survival pack (contained in 4x5 waterproof ziplock vinyl pouch, includes: Spark-Lite™ Firestarter, 4 Spark-Lite™ Tinder-Quik™ , Fox-40® Rescue Howler™ Survival Whistle, Rescue Flash™ Signal Mirror, 20mm Survival Compass, Duct Tape, Stainless Steel Utility Wire, Braided Nylon Cord, #69 Black Nylon Thread, Fishing Kit, Heavy Duty Sewing Needle, 4 Safety Pins, Heavy Duty Aluminum Foil, #2 Pencil and Waterproof Notepaper, #22 Scalpel Blade, Kit Specific Illustrated Survival Instructions, Contents List, Fresnel Lens Magnifier

The Iron Horse mentioned something that I forgot to mention: I also carry a stout metal pen whenever possible. It's handy to have something to write with, and it can certainly be used as a shiv if necessary. I also forgot to mention that I carry a Taurus 605. It's not in my pocket though....

Some of you guys are ridiculous LOL.

You have so much overlap in your knives its almost a negative because of the added weight and clutter.

I mean if you already carry a full-size leatherman, why have a mini leatherman? If you already have a 3.5" knife, why carry 2 more 3.5" knives, etc etc.

And YongingFreesty, I seriously hope you don't go out carrying like that. Thats too obvious.

You all crack me up. If every one of you actually carry that much crap in your pockets EVERY SINGLE DAY, then I guess you are just more manly than me (and I don't know anyone more manly than me other than my dad), LOL.

Here is what I have right now: nothing.

Here is what I had earlier today when I went to a work party: one key ring with 3 keys.

Here is what I had this morning when I was riding my Harley for fun: wallet (inside of wallet was licence, insurance, 1 debit card, BCBS card, and lint).

Here is what I had in my pockets yesterday when I did a drywall job in the ghetto: wallet (same contents as above).

Again, you guys crack me up.:D

Fred Fuller
July 27, 2007, 04:10 PM
Crack you up, humpf. Shows what YOU know about serious tacticality.

That pocket change I carry, for example. It's not just ordinary coins. It's TACTICAL pocket change. It's made out of intelligent metal, and can tell the difference in velocity between being dropped in a vending machine and thrown full force into an attacker's face.

If thrown full force it streamlines itself into a miniature flying disc with sharp edges the better to rip and slice your attacker. The quarters even turn into miniature ninja throwing stars.

So don't you be messin' with all us ubertactical folk here.

If I could carry duct tape in my pocket I would.

Take a #2 pencil, or alternately a golf pencil, sharpen it down to a little more than the width of the duct tape. Take duct tape and wrap around pencil until you reach your desired thickness.

As for what I carry every day.

On belt Breed Tanto, Graham Knives Razel, Cellphone, 1991

Left pocket: Money Clip, Keys, Spare Mag, Cheapo Pen clipped to lip of pocket
Right pocket: Alternate Money Clip ($5-$100 +old license + old debit cards) Bic Lighter, Spare mag

Alternate money clip is something like a fake wallet or throw down, but I actually get use out of mine. I use binder clips for my money clips, they are durable and don't really lose tension from a thick stack of bills. I do all my day to day business from the alternate. Gas, Gum, Bottle water, whatever.

Also I protect my mags by putting them in old Hoffners minimalist single mag carriers, that I've broken in the past and dremel'd the belt loops off. Simple enough to catch them as I draw them out of the pocket and easy enough to flick off with a thumb if the mag holder clears the pocket.

I think I know you... Aren't you the guy who asked to borrow my Trapper to open that Fed Ex box sealed with filament tape? And then wanted my clippers to fix a hangnail? And my Digilight to look for the pen you dropped under the desk? And my Leatherman to tighten the battery clamps when your car wouldn't start? And then we used my cell phone to call AAA when the car still wouldn't start? You ain't getting my chapstick, I don't know who you kissed last.

There's a lot to be said for traveling light. I agree that some of the lists in the thread are mind boggling. My Uncle Roy said it's better to have it and not need it than...you know the rest.

So yeah, I also have a shovel, a snatch strap, jumper cables, a Handyman jack, a tire pump, a rain coat and a tool kit in my Jeep. That probably cracks you up as well. But I'd pull your sorry unprepared butt out of the ditch if you needed help.

Hmm, a bunch of crap.

1:00 on carabiner from belt loop: a bunch of keys.
right front pocket: Cold Steel Xtra Large Voyager, Gunsite Edition, and spare change.
3:30 on belt: PT1911 in Don Hume 721 OT
right hip pocket: kel-tec P32 and one mag in pocket holster
left hip pocket: wallet, comb
8:30: this changes. Anywhere from 1-3 mags, or a second PT1911 in lefty version of same holster. Extra weight keeps me from listing to the right.
Left front pocket: Bic lighter.
10:00: cell phone.
Left shirt pocket: smokes, earplugs, pen, and usually a memo pad.
right shirt pocket: glasses case, sometimes.

Alright, let's see:

Left Back: Wallet with all the essentials

Right Back: Some reciepts and Kershaw Scallion (for the little stuff)

Left Front: Keys to work and home; about $1.62 in change (I'm rich!!)

Right Front: Cell phone in holster; Kershaw Needs Work (for the bigger stuff)

On the belt: Oakley's hard sunglasses case in which I carry my Under Armour sunglasses; everyonce in a while I carry a Gerber Harsey Hunter fixed blade (first fixed blade I bought myself) but usually only when going to and from work. (The Harsey Hunter is right at the edge of legal limit - 5.25" open carry.)

**When I get back from BCT** - TT 33 Tokarev converted to 9mm CCW at about the 4 o' clock postion (concealed carry being allowed in Texas at the age of 18 if said person is military . It'll be an early birthday present to myself; I turn 21 in March '08 and get back from BCT in January)

Again, you guys crack me up.

If we crack you up this guy's gonna make you fall in half..

The thread is "What gear do you always carry in your pockets." I'd bet my left gonad that 90% of the folks on here right now who say they carry 2-3 guns, and 2-3 knives, and 2-3 other 16oz weapons don't really carry them "always" like the thread asks. But I'm just bustin chops. No sweat.

As for traveling light, what can I say? Before I leave the house, I make sure all the hangnails are trimmed, shoes are tied with good lace, and all phone calls already made. (I actually just got rid of my cell phone last year. I've had one for nearly 10 years, but I'm done. I was paying money just so the wife can call me to tell me she misses me? That's not worth $35. I sold it and haven't looked back.) I also have a fair amount of stuff in each vehicle that I drive, but the question wasn't "what do you carry in your car." And I certainly have all of these items available to me in the house. There is a flashlight, knife, and magizine in every room of my house.

Sebenza

Cell phone

LOL - love the comment about the cell phone so the wife can call and tell you she misses you. (Mine's exactly the same. :) )

Ok, here's mine:

left front - leatherman charge ti
right front - keys to my truck and some cash
left rear - wallet
right leg - cell phone.

I can't say the cell phone is absolutely 100% in my pocket because when I'm rolling around under a trailer or wrestling with the tractor some such I'm afraid I'll break it but it's there 90% or better . .especially when I'm using the chainsaw.

I don't know how people could carry everything they show and still function. I'm always crawling under or over something to fix something else . ... if I had that much crap in my pockets I couldn't bend I don't think. :)

I usually carry, Right front. Money (if I have any), Kershaw knife clipped
Left front-- cell phone, (for my wife to call me) :D change if I have any. keys
Left rear-- wallet
Right rear-- usually nothing
Clip in my belt a taurus 627 and a speedloader or my PT-111 and a spare mag

Wallet, keys, knife (usually a CRKT Mirage with the Wharncliffe blade, Kershaw Leek, or Camillus hawkbill, although I have a lot of other choices), Ronson Standard lighter- don't smoke but I like to have a source of fire anyway-nail clippers, cell phone, a couple-few pens (Office Depot sells the ultimate gel pen as a Foray retractable, and some of my collection of hundreds of fountain pens) and if I can get away with it a Beretta 21A and a German Sipo police spring baton vertical next to my wallet. Heavier artillery stays in the car and goes in the belt as needed or opportunity permits. My job takes me through a lot of metal detectors so I have to be judicious as to what I carry at any given time.

Someone needs to come up with something more manly than a fanny pack but not too big or obvious to carry all this stuff!
Whenever I carry too much in my pockets my pants sag, sitting down can be dangerous, pockets bulge, etc. Every manly bag/pack I've seen is either way too big and/or purse-like.

Anyone found anything that is "relatively" small, convenient, manly, etc... ???

Back Left Pocket: Nothing

You will never find my leaving the house with less then that. Sometimes I add a flashlight, mp3 player, and lighter. I do not carry because I am not old enough yet. When I do I will probably start using a belt for the phone and knife, and carry my wallet in one pocket and CCW in the other.
