I'm with Kaylee. We should not be trying to disarm the Iraqis. The country is still in a state of near anarchy, and is likely much more dangerous for individual iraqis than for the american soldiers.

What this cartoon is saying is that the "assault weapons" ban which is set to sunset is about machine guns -- automatic weapons. That is the "given" in this cartoon, and it is the key to public support of this law.

This misconception, or this lie (as you please), is what got the law passed in the first place, and it is what the media is using to push for its continuance.
