RugerRell July 15, 2007, 11:11 PM Hey everyone. Im new to the site. its really nice and everyone seems knoledagle about ALOT of guns. Anyway i just ordered my first gun 2 days ago which is a Glock 17 everything on it is stock. It came with a safty case, cleaning supplies 2 mags and instructioins. I cant wait for it to come. Does anyone on this site have a customized glock 17? Like with a wooden grip and whatnot. Can people post a picture of your glock and what kind of grip is on it? i am very interested in getting a new grip and barrel.
Thanks:p

glockman19 July 15, 2007, 11:16 PM RugerRell,
Welcome to THR. There are many Glock Threads. Do a search and you'll likely find a lot of answers. Congrats on the Glock 17. As Far as wooden grips I'm not sure you're familiar with the gun. I've never seen them on teh polymer frame.
Upgrades can include night sights, different Barrels by companies like Storm Lake, You can have the pistol painted, Grip reduced, barrel custom etched, trigger pull lightened I recommend replacint eh OEM with a #3.5, I would not recommend the NY trigger.
Good luck and happy shooting
RugerRell July 15, 2007, 11:21 PM Yeah thanks, thats mainly why i asked i wasnt really familiar with "special parts" like grips, laser all that stuff, just wanted to see the possabilities, ill def do the search, thanks
jkomp316 July 15, 2007, 11:30 PM you should get some diamonds put in the frame :uhoh:
GRIZ22 July 16, 2007, 01:28 AM I would advise staying with the stock trigger for now. The 3.5# trigger may be of some use to you but I'd learn using the 5#. 1.5# of trigger is not going to make you that better a shot at this point in your shooting experience. Once you master the Glock the 3.5, 5, or 8# is not going to make a big difference in combat shooting.
Seven For Sure July 16, 2007, 11:12 AM I put a 3.5# connector with a NY1 without the spring in all my GLOCKS. Some people like extended mag releases and slide stop levers. I also use night sights on all my GLOCKS. You can spend money on aftermarket recoil assembly's but it's not necessary for the 17. There are decal and slip on grips available or you can cut an inner tube for a bicycle and slip that on. Get yourself some 33 rd. mags and a few more 17 rd. mags. Get a couple +10% Wolff mag springs and a couple +2 mag extensions to make some 19 rd. mags.
For now, try some night sights, more mags and lot's of ammo and see how that works for you.
ENJOY!!! The 17 is one of the best guns out there. I shoot mine more than ever now that ammo costs so much. Those 33 rd. mags don't help though.
Black Majik July 16, 2007, 01:12 PM I got my friend into USPSA not too long ago. Since he was a new shooter, I promised if he purchased a gun I'd buy one too with him.
Our pistols with the necessary essentials. Pretty much stock, w/ a little bit of trigger work and sights.

RobMoore July 16, 2007, 01:37 PM I compete in Production and SSP, so all my mods are internal, but if you REALLY want a decked out Glock, take a look at some of the guns these guys make.

CWL July 16, 2007, 04:46 PM Try www.glocktalk.com
You'll be able to find more rabid glocksters and plenty of hotrodded glocks there than you will find here on a more general forum.
Joe Demko July 16, 2007, 04:54 PM How about a steel or aluminum frame (http://www.ccfraceframes.com/home.php) for that Glock?

tuned trigger, extended everything.
If you ever find a glock armorer who decides to sell off his gun, jump on it, the whole package cost me 420$
I already had the mags.
Sven July 17, 2007, 12:04 AM IMO Stock Glocks Rock.
I'm hoping you were kidding about the wood grips.

Rob62 July 18, 2007, 10:58 PM Welcome to the Highroad RugerRell.
While you learn to shoot your G17 I would recommend not doing anything to it other than having night sights installed, if your gun will not come with them already installed. My preference is for either Meprolight or Trijicon brands.
Doing some frugal shopping should be able to get you a set for under $80. Check out Glocktalk.com for info and great deals on all things Glock.
Black Majik Those sure are some pretty Glocks - you clearly are not shooting them enough ;-)
Regards and Happy Glockin'
Rob
