I was sitting here and wondering what kind of guns is Rip Ford wearing in the holsters in his picture. Well, I got an Idea. I got a picture of a Walker and a Dragoon, rotated them, resized them (making sure to maintain the original aspect ratio), and did a little copy and pasting. I tried to get the size right based on the dimensions of the grip sticking out of the holster.

From this, it looks like they were Dragoons.

I see a pistol butt and thats it. Not enough to verify.

I would check wikipedia to see if there is more info on what he used.

I was looking at the marks on his holster from the cylinder and the base of the loading lever. It looks like the walker's is to long. Of course, this wasn't a very scientific project.

Walker looks too long to me too. And just like you said, the Dragoon lines up better albeit unscientifically. ;)

If I had to pick I would say Dragoons too. Serious heat! Why don't you have a Dragoon yet DixieTexian? You know you would enjoy it and I know how much you like your NMA. :neener:

The historic records say he got two walkers while adjutant/medical officer for the troops in the Mexican war. He probably had a lot of other colts too.
