I am looking for a briefcase/messenger bag that I can carry my sidearm in to and from the office. Before we even get started, I strongly agree that having your weapon on your person is ideal. However, I often wear scrubs to the clinic and that makes it a little difficult to carry and conceal a pistol. I have a bag that I carry my laptop and files in daily, but the pockets are not really suitable for carry and reasonably quick access. I would just like to get some input as to what some of your experiences with different bags have been. I looked through some of the old threads and found just a few examples. I was hoping that maybe someone had come up with some new variations. Thanks in advance.

Ooops. Details are helpful. Glock 17 and at least one spare mag. The laptop I carry is just over 14" wide. I found one that looks ideal by Uncle Mike. Looks just like a computer bag with the seperate pistol compartment. However, stuff that looks good in pictures may not be that great in real life.

Have you considered an ankle holster or belly band? Both would allow you to retain your firearm on your person.

Maxpedition Versipack Jumbo might work. You can order it with an internal velcro holster.

The bellyband seemed like a decent idea, but I live just south of Houston and summer lasts about 10 months out of the year. The neoprene would be fairly irritating even with an undershirt. The ankle holster would be fine, except my skinny legs would not begin to hide the Glock 17. I may have to revisit the belly band idea, however.

I have a Gould and Goodrich bellyband that is basically a large atheletic bandage. There is a neoprene square that serves as backing for the "holster" in the band, but that's it.

I carried it for the longest time to and from my office with my concealed weapon in it and nobody, absolutely nobody, ever caught on the case's real function. I packed it in and out of meetings and used it as a business attage' and it was excellent for both.

I still have it and I must say that it has held up well. Even use it sometime to go the big city. I recommend it highly.

It will hold any size gun from a Glock 26 to a full size 1911 with no problems.

I still have it and I must say that it has held up well. Even use it sometime to go the big city. I recommend it highly.

Ok DairyCreek that thing doesnt look too bad and I wouldnt mind getting one. But knowing my luck someone will steal it from me and there goes my $1000+ Glock 23 (that I have heavily mod'd out) :( Thats my only fear of those add-on bags.

If it were me...I'd reinforce those "scrubs" pockets and carry a .38 special S&W 642 in a Mika holster. It is very easy to conceal...light and very deadly with the 110 grain all copper Corbon DPX bullets. When I see bags/brief cases, etc., my brain screams: "Satchel Charge" and my attention is drawn exclusively to it and you.

I vote the ankle carry option.

On the bag option... the hidden pistol compartment on the front Blackhawk's Attache Case is easy to draw from and has plenty of room to hide a full-sive auto and extra magazine without printing. Blackhawk was even kind enough to put their logo on the inside so it's even more discrete.
