Mod 57 44 special

I was at a gun shop Grice's in Clearfield, PA and was looking for my usual list of wants and while looking for a Mod 58 I saw a 57 and asked to see it, looked at the tag and it said 44 spec. I looked at the guy and told him the tag is wrong, Model 57's are only 41 mags. I looked closer at the gun and it did not have a nice bright finish of a typical 57 but a dull blue finish. The barrel was at least a 6 and maybe a 6.5 and it was a 44 spec barrel and cylinder. Releasing the cylinder I looked at the yoke and it was marked Mon 57. I told the counter guy it is mismarked as a 57 when it should be a 24. I dunno it might be a Gunsmith mod to 44 spec from 41 mag but it looked very well done. They had a price of $359 I think the SN is AHC1846

S&W's well known for mismarking the caliber on the gun.
No matter how you cut it though, that's not a bad price for a .44 Spl.
It would also be very interesting to see what the serial number came back to -- .41 or .44.

I called S&W this morning and it was listed as a Model 624 in their computer. It was shipped with a 6.5 inch barrel. It is definitly a blue gun 6.5" barrel marked 44 spec on the barrel and mod 57 on the frame.
