1911: GI Rear Sight + Novak Front?

Would this work? I already have a set of GI sights. I want to get the front sight cut for a Novak dovetail. Are there any issues (other than asthetics) with having a GI rear sight with a Novak style front sight? I assume it would be ok, but just wanted to make sure...
PS - sorry for the retarded question.

Height.
If the Novak front is not the same height as the GI, then it will not shoot to the same elevation as it does now.

Hmm... I haven't purchased the Novak style front sight yet. Is there some kind of standard height for this setup?

I usually make the cut for the front sight, install a blank front sight, shoot a three round group, do some trig, and then order the correct height front sight from Brownells.
If your gunsmith follows basically the same procedure, there should not be a problem.

Thanks Mr Watson and XRay.
I'll send the parts to my gunsmith and let him figure it out! :D

Measure the front sight, go to sight imfo page in whatever catalog you have, order the sight you want from list, in the height that you want. There are standard and custom heights and widths, pick the best fit.
Have sight installed and enjoy!

Well, the slide was sent out to my gunsmith today. He's going to install a blank, send it back to me to test, then adjust the blank and insert a fiber optic rod.
