30 seconds to field strip and re-assemble:
mpg format (http://www.1bad69.com/ruger/FieldStripRuger.mpg)
avi format (http://www.1bad69.com/ruger/FieldStripRuger.avi)
not really going fast or anything, just knowing what I am doing and not fumbling....
also, instructions here:

I find them to be easy and it's all in the strut.

Mine come apart and back together that fast too. Once you do it a couple of times, it's easy!! :D

Yeah, once you know the secret hand shake, it's a snap! ;)

Heck, taking it apart is easy! Now, getting it back together...it's not hard, I just don't have the motions memorized...so it takes me a few tries to get it. But it's not hard in the least...just takes a shake, a wiggle, and a twist! :D

Im gonna agree with blue...I have had my 22/45 for years...and I still fumble with putting it pack together....but it always ends up working correctly, so I dont complain....excellent videos and tutorial BTW.

I worked on a new one that the owner couldn't take apart to clean. I thought he just didn't know the method. I ended up taking it apart using a large hammer !! I then did lots of filing so it could be assembled/disassembled normally. I guess Ruger had a gorilla that assembled that one .

Heh.
They're real easy to field strip.
It's getting 'em back together again the first time that throws most people. :D I can't tell you how many times I've seen someone come into the gun stores I've worked at with a sackful of Mk.II, but show 'em the secret handshake and they're off with a smile on their face. :)

yeah the first time it does not go that easy because it is tighter and you don't know what you are doing yet.... but that is why there are instructions:

oooooh yeah they're tight! the first time I took mine apart (and actually any time i try to take one apart at the shops), they're REALLY stiff. However, now I can use my fingernail to pull the latch open.
the first time? heck, it still throws me...but I usually get it the 2nd or 5th time round. :D

I just got a new Lipseys MKII. Taking it apart was a pain and putting it together required some muscle and a 2X4.
My older MKII takes down in a snap :)

He would always say: "Remember it's just like sex..... if you find it to be extraordianrily difficult, you know you are doing something wrong."
It's all in the trigger strut piece. It's just like a dog: always on the wrong side of any door. That strut is always leaning the wrong direction for whatever you are trying to do.

not only for putting it back together, but also for taking it apart if you get it back together wrong. the first night i had mine, i stripped and reassembled it several times to learn. well, the last time I put it back together, i goofed...it wasn't "springy" as i pushed the latch down. as i went to take it apart, it wouldn't come...i pulled and pulled and pulled, pushed and shoved, cursed and whined...then later when i picked it up and tried, I guess that lil strut must've flipped outta the way, cause it just fell apart in my hands. :banghead:
oh well, at least I haven't done that again.

Last time I went to the range, there were two guys trying to put one of those together when I got there. I shot for an hour...when I came out they were still trying to put it together. :cuss:
:D

It's usually the first disassembly that can be troublesome. Everything is tight. After that, it's a snap.
