UPDATE

The AK is the Saiga (russian) conversion that has never been shot. It still has factory oil where it was assembled. It came with 5 magazines, and a illuminated scope that is detatchable, good as new too. No scratches. Well, the only scratch was one I just put on it switching the selector from safe to fire. I don't even think that had been moved.

The AR is just as good. Not a scratch on the receiver. It doesn't have forward assist and the serial number is in the 3,000's! 0034**. The free float barrel has a mirror bore land is actually a Bushmaster. Leupold 3x9 scope with flip ups looks new as well. The guy REALLY cared for his guns.

The AR also came with 2 steel and 4 aluminum magazines with the green followers.

2 battle packs of south african (just recently banned from import) 5.56 that contain 300 rounds each.
about 600 rounds of Wolf .223 and 400 rounds of PMC .223

The AR could pass as new, not a scratch, oiled perfectly and clean as new. I almost felt sorry for the guy.

PICS ARE HERE. I CAN"T GET THEM TO UPLOAD CORRECTLY

um, assuming nothing is wrong with those weapons and ammo, that is a great deal. Figure the ammo and weapon are worth $4-500, and you get a $5-600 AR. If you add in the scopes, mags, and other stuff I saw in those pics, that's a great deal.

I would run, not walk, to get that, cash in hand.

if you don't want the AR I'll take it for $500. A flat top, freefloated bull barrel AR from a good maker could easily go for $1000.

That AK scope would sell for about $120-$140 new. The AK itself (NOT a low-end AK), at least $500. The AR, $1000 or so. If the AR scope is another $150, that's nearly $1800 worth of stuff, not even counting the ammunition.

As others have said, run, don't walk, to the bank...deals like this don't come by often.

They're mine. The pics posted were taken in MY living room!

I saw on gunbroker the 5.56 battlepacks were going for $120/each, I have 2 of those and another 700 of mixed Wolf steel cased and PMC brass cased.

I know the battlepacks are South African, which I believe are no longer allowed for importation. Wondering if I should sell those and the wolf and buy reloading tools and supplies? Or will the SA 5.56 go up in value more...or shoot it and keep the brass?

Also I got about $100 in magazines and some really nice pouches for them.

Here's my breakdown...

Saiga rifle alone is about $250 say. Add the conversion, and it is a FULL conversion including front handguards and appears to have a muzzle device, I'd put that at another $200 min. So say $450 at the least. More like $500.

Saiga scope is hard to say. I don't know who makes it. Some of those are dirt cheap, others cost more. If it is one of the real Russian ones made by Zenit, it could be over $100 but under $200. I'd put it at $130.

5 AK magazines runs about $12/ea at the cheapest less shipping. Figure $60 for the mags, and shipping- it would cost you $70 to buy those mags.

The AR is harder to say. That looks like the DPMS Lo-Pro upper with a Bushy barrel as you say. Who makes the lower? This AR could run anywhere from $650-$850 I'd put it.

Leupold scope. Used or not, these demand a premium since they are under complete 100% no-questions asked warranty for life, regardless of owner. I'd put the scope value higher at $180-$200 since used ones usually get bidded up nearly to the price of new ones on Ebay.

AR mags. 6 total. 2 steel mags should be $20 a piece. I haven't seen steel mags cheaper unless they are those British surplus ones. The 4 aluminum mags are probably either D&H, Colt or C-Products...green follower means they are at least up to date and probably not really old. I'd put them at $13 each is the typical price. Total $95 for mags.

AMMO:

SA battle packs. 600rds. Given that most surplus of that quality is running $300 a case IF you can find it. I'd put that at $200. Wolf is $200 per K now, so 600 rounds would be $120. PMC is US made commercial, and Fed, Win and Rem goes for $350 a case these days, I'd put the PMC at around $150. So total ammo value = $470.

Bob, my bid for this showcase is:

$2,220

"""The AR is harder to say. That looks like the DPMS Lo-Pro upper with a Bushy barrel as you say. Who makes the lower? This AR could run anywhere from $650-$850 I'd put it."""

The lower is a DPMS. Very low serial number,, in the 3,000's. It's 003***

Do you know why it doesn't have a dust cover or forward assist?

Don't Tread On Me
July 19, 2007, 01:44 PM
DPMS? Ok, then I'd put it around $700ish. Doesn't matter though. Still a great deal for all this stuff. It has a FF tube I see. You're also getting Butler Creek flip ups, that's about a $15 value! Forgot to add that. Yay!

Seriously though, I believe that is DPMS's lo-pro upper. It has no ejection port cover (not needed for this application) nor a forward assist or a case deflector, again, not needed. However, it is a thicker and stronger upper. It is made that way to support a full 1" bull barrel with less vibration and flex. Thus (theoretically) being more accurate with a heavy match grade barrel. I like the idea. The upper itself isn't expensive. It's just different. I think it is the ideal upper for a "sniper" style AR or one built for accuracy.

Here is a picture:

http://www.gunblast.com/images/AR15_Carbine/MVC-018F.jpg

I wonder if that is Bushmaster's varmint or match barrel. It has no muzzle device and they usually don't when they are the varmint or match barrel. It also has the Bushmaster chopped low profile gasblock. So it has to be one of those.

Could be this barrel:

I'd call and make sure those serial numbers have not been reported stolen. $1,000 for what is likely $2,500 worth of stuff?

What's the story? This guy needs money for hospital bills? Mortgage? Lose his job? Moving to anti-gun state? Married a anti? Or were they "found" during a burglary then sold through a friend of a friend to another friend? Did he wake up one day and say autoloaders are lame, and is going to buy a bolt action rifle and a scope instead?

I'd shoot the ammo. You got it for a good price and won't find anything as good on the market now for that price. I'm not sure if SA 5.56 brass is reloadable but if it is, save it and the PMC brass.

From what I've read so far, I wouldn't shoot the Wolf steel cased ammo through my AR15 unless it was a well worn one that I didn't care about.

michaelj1978
July 21, 2007, 11:19 PM
Yeah, I don't know what I'll do with the wolf. I have about 6K for my SKS's and new Saiga, and Wolf runs like a champ through them. Their match ammo is amazingly accurate for my .22's as well.

I'll either sell it and buy reloading tools for the .223 or I have a RRA lower that I'd like to SBR, so I'll need some cheap "fun" ammo to blast through it.

If the AR is too delicate for wolf, you could dump it and get a Yugo m95.
