Ok I am new to THR, I posted in Reloading first because you guys have great info on reloading.:)

I am lookign at getting a couple new guns, but I am curious what I should or should get. I am looking at the ole original Glock 17/19 for use in USPSA, in production, and was curious about the Taurus 24/7.

I own 3 Glock's currently (All in .40) but i find myself shooting them with 9mm conversioin barrels more often then not. So I am going to buy a few 9mm dedicated guns. I also may be heading to the great eastern sandbox, and will take it with me so I am asking for some suggestions, and reasons why I shouldn't go with the Glock.

I love Glock but I am also one of those ADHD kids who needs change.... I carry a Glock every day for work and CCW. I keep getting drawn to the 24/7 in 9mm and .45. I just wonder about the aftermarket availiblity for a good match barrel, and maybe a trigger job. I do like the manuel saftey that comes with the 24/7, and I have been looking for the OSS but they are not out yet.

one Side question who had bought guns from Buds' gun shop online, how was your dealing with them, thinking of using them but I like to know what I am getting in service.

Thanks for any future info and the great group you guys are !!!:neener:

You should stay with the Glock.

No way in hell do I trust my life to a Taurus, much less a Taurus auto, much less in a sandy environment, much less in a warzone.

STAY WITH GLOCK.

I'm a big believer in sticking to a common weapon system. You already know the Glock grip angle, you already the Glock trigger, etc. If they work well for you - as in you can comfortably & easily shoot them both quickly and accurately - there's no reason to change. The Glock 19 is a great combination of a gun with near full grip size, plenty of mag capacity, and low weight, in an easy to carry package.

If a decocker or an external is a must I'd look strongly at CZs, H&Ks, SIGs, and Browning/FN Hi-Powers. The Israelis and others have proven the durability of the CZ & Hi-Power type pistols in the environments of the Middle East. The Ruger P95 is also quite a bargain in a robust poly framed pistol with integral light rail.

I work in a rather large locally owned gun shop, and I don't like selling Taurus autos there - we see too many returned for service & repair by casual shooters. This is even more frequent on the poly frame Taurus pistols. No way I can recommend a Taurus auto for heavy/professional use, and especially not in the harsh conditions encountered in the Middle East.

Ohh yes, and not to forget Welcome To THR. I'm glad you found us, and please enjoy your time here.

If there is a possibility of it being used in a combat situation such as in the sandbox, I would definitely go with the glock, or maybe a CZ or hi-power. (And I'm not even particularly fond of Glocks)

thanks, seems the overwhelming majority go with my gut.... I have kicking the glock 17 vs Taurus thing for a long time. With my LE discount I get glocks close to the price of the 24/7.

Well maybe I will be getting a new glock this weekend!
Thanks everyone, is there anyone out there with time in the sand box that carried a side arm other then a M9? If so what holster did you go with, majority of my experince is police duty holsters and concealed carry ones, what is a good tactical holster?

I saw some marines using kimbers with SLS safariland drop holsters... was thinking that but looking for other possible choices, I hate how much safariland marks up thier holsters even though I use one for my duty gear.
