Has anyone done their own nickel plating? I am thinking of plating a CZ52 (something inexpensive to start with). When dipping the gun, can I just remove the slide and grips and dip the whole frame? Can I dip the whole slide with the barrel included? I'm a little unsure because I don't want to screw up any of the working inward parts but then again its a super thin layer of nicket so it theoretically should be fine, right? I'd be interested in any expertise that you might have, thanks!

I think you must take EVERY piece apart before plating, or you will (virtually) weld them together.

You might also want to go to www.caswellplating.com. They have a couple of kits. jklinstein is 100% right. You've got to disassemble completely and strip off the old finish, and also understand that the brighter the polish job the better the plating job. Unless you want brushed, of course.
