I'd appreciate some opinions/info on the Astra Constable .22LR. How are these little pistols in terms of quality of manufacture, accuracy, reliability, and trigger? Also, do they have a steel frame or an alloy one? Thanks.

As much as I wanted to like these guns, I think I would pass. I have found the Bersas in .22lr to be excellent values and great guns. I have several Bersa 22s and they all shoot well and are reliable.

The Astras I have come across all had problems so I didn't buy them. One had a gouged feedramp which I have heard was a problem common to this model for some reason.

I've owned an Astra Constable in .380 for many years. It's a decent little pistol. Fits the hand well. Reliable and, I suspect, pretty accurate if I would practice with it.

I have both a Bersa DA/SA .22 and an Astra Constable .22. I consider them essentially identical for the spaces they fill in my accumulation.

They seem equally reliable, equally accurate, both are fun for an afternoon of plinking. I got both of these because I couldn't afford a Walther PP or PPK in .22. After I got the Walthers, I found the Astra and Bersa were much more reliable and accurate, so the Walthers moved on. I now have a reliable and accurate PPK/S in .22, and can't bring myself to get rid of the earlier guns.

I'd recommend you get which ever you can find extra magazines for, and buy a bunch! These guns get better the more you shoot 'em, and you're gonna want at least four extra magazines to keep 'em warm.

Thanks for the replies/info.

Any difference in quality or problems with the ones imported from Interarms?(I've heard that the Interarms PPKs had a bad reputation, does this hold true for the Interarms Astras?)

Mine is an Interarms. Tough little pistol. Functions very well. It was a nightstand pistol for a long time.

Be warned; these little mags ain't cheap, at $30-$35 each .... but I guess you don't have much choice, if you need 'em.
I have an Interarms Constable .380 .... not a bad little pistol, but for the size and weight of it - it should be a 9mm.
