Neck Knife

Well I am always losing my pocket knives since I'm constantly removing them for my job. It's very physical and hard things in my pockets make huge bruises on my legs and so on. Count the belt out too because I have to wear a back brace at work as well. I figured the neck knife was my only option now for me. What would be a good solid legal Texas knife that is not that prone too rusting. I would also like a recommendation for a small pocket flashlight that uses common batteries and is LED.

I'm a beer delivery guy who drives a truck with no a/c in Houston so I sweat ALOT! But I'm also a student, so I'm thinking affordable and most bang for the buck. A good all around knife that works.

I really don't know anything about knives just guns.

I bought a key ring holder thing, carabiner, at Academy that has a REAL handy little LED light in it runs off a watch battery. It wasn 't but 3 or 4 bucks and sure is handy. I sometimes use my display on my cell phone for a light in the dark, too. My wife's cell, a Nokia, actually has a built in flash light which is sorta cool. I'd trade playing tetris for one on my phone, LOL.

If you are lifting stuff a lot and bringing it close to your chest I would use a boot knife instead.

Little folder in an ankle wallet or similar

sounds like you're in the market for a utility HAK www.hideawayknife.com , they're probably one of the best necker designs out there. go check them out. as far as flashlights, if you want to use regular old AA batteries, get a maglite.

i highly recommend the neck knife from Becker, the Becker Necker. it is high carbon, very sharp, epoxy coated, perfect for chopping and cutting. it has a very nice sheath that locks it in tight. the handle is skeletonized so it would be easy to lash it to a stick to make a solid spear. i think they go for under $30. best luck - Eric

What are you looking for in a knife, or maybe more specifically, what will you be using it for? Sean Shepherd makes a nice neck knife. I bought one from him recently and have been very pleased, but it really depends on what you will use it for. It's CPM154CM, so won't rust easily, and the stonewashed blade won't carry fingerprints, but you might not need the blade style.

If you can find one at a reasonable price, the Becker Necker (BK-11) by the now defunct Camillus is a great knife.

The Spyderco Ronin and Emerson LaGriffe are my favorite neckers, and I carry them regularly, though not quite daily, and of course one at a time. The Ronins are discontinued, but can be found LNIB for under a hundred bucks on evilbay.

I'll third the utiliy HAK, but if $$$ are tight, go for a Ka Bar Last ditch.:)

Columbia River Knife & Tool (CRKT) has several models of a more traditional fixed blade design neck knife.

For a neck knife I recommend a Camillus Arc Lite if you can find one. As mentioned in a previous post Camillus is out of business, so they may be hard to find. The Buck Hartsook is a great knife but very small. I find that it makes a good little fixed blade for you keychain. Two neck knives that I sometimes carry are CRKT Dogfish and the Meyerco Necklance. You should also look in the Mercharness as an option for carrying your knife.

As for a flashlight any of the Fenix models will be good choices. I recently picked up the new version of the Photon Proton http://edcdepot.com/merchantmanager/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=17&products_id=186 and the Pentagon Molle light. Both use common AA batteries.
