I've looked HIGH, and I've looked low, and no-where have I found the ballistics for Hogdon 777 fffg powder in "my" pistols.
I have a "Colt 1860 3" snubbie," and a "Regulation '58 Remington"."
As close as I've been able to calculate (I failed arithmetic in college) a 25.5g load of triple 7 is equal to 30g of fffg black powder, and a 29.75g load would be equal to a 35g load of The Holy Black.
I'm not planning on hunting hogs or anything, so I doubt I'd ever use such a load, except to maybe impress the other kids at the range, but I'm just ITCHING to know what kind of ballistics max-loads of triple seven like those would generate. Hellfire:fire: with my "math skills" I may have described using the cylinders of my pistols as replacement for an M-67 Frag.:banghead:
Can anybody help with velocities etc., and if my grandson continues to have crazy ideas, COULD such a load be SAFELY used on a South C'lina Swamp-Hog or should I convince him to stick with chipmunks? (He's 16 and still immortal!)
Thanks; TomK
