Anyone have a direct link to the DPS site that shows crime rate for the general population and crime rate for CHL holders?

I found the DPS site no problem but can't find this specific info. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Skunk,

The DPS does not have this data easily formatted. Luckily, the TSRA has done it for you, showing conviction rates of CHL and non-CHL populations.

Demographics:

Conviction rates:

Like rock jock said, formatting on convictions is pretty grim - the demos are all in pdf.

Skunkabilly, just a year or so ago the Texas DPS provided very detailed information on Texas permit holders: the number of arrests, charges pressed, charges dropped, and convictions. Then they changed their whole online method of presenting the stats.

While in the process of trying to dispute VPC "statistics," I called the DPS and got routed to a very pleasant lady in the legal department. She inferred that the reason they changed their method of reporting stats was that they were fed up with the VPC's number-massaging tactics.

So, to Josh Sugarman and his hired number-crunchers: nah nah nah:neener:

honestly, if you ever have any questions about the CHL program or the numbers, call DPS. they seem to really be backing the CHL program, and everyone I have spoken to there has been extremely happy to help. Almost scarily happy, considering that this is a government agency....
