AI bipods

so...

i've seen a lot of pics lately of people's AIs, and there are two or three in my neighborhood too. something i'm noticing is that almost all of them have a harris style bipod attached under the forearm where the sling stud normally is, instead of using the built-in attachment that goes into the end of the forearm.

why?

is the AI style one not stable enough? too expensive? unweildy?

Cost IS a factor with these a well as availability..Plus they swivel freely and you cant pod lock them...

I started with an AI bipod on my AICS, and chnged to a Harris. The AI bipod is loose and slops around. I find I can shoot much better using the Harris with a pod-lok.

Its so that if the bipod is on uneven ground you can still get the rifle level instead of canted to the left or right...screwing up long range shots.
