Ive been hanging in the shadows for a while here folks and have kinda come to this conclusion and would like to know some opinions on it. You see i am somewhere middle of the road i think on gun ownership. I think you should be able to protect yourself and your family without consequence. No burglar or intruder i feel should have any right to sue me or reperations if i shoot him in my home, or catch him doing damage to my property or family. I due think however there should be some restrictions on gun ownerships. I think that if you have commited a violent act with a firearm you shouldnt be allowed to have one again. Although i am not for registration, i do think you should at least have to pass some sort of competency test to at leasxt have respect for that firearm. Do i think everyone deserves to have a howitzer in there front yard, no. But this is why I think we should protect it any cost. I think the first battle for our rights will be with the second ammendment. When they succefully peel away those right, there is no reason why they cant peel away the freedom of speech, freedom of religion...ect ect... Along the same lines, I dont really care for people like Howard Stern, or Larry Flynt, but they help protect our rights through there battles. When they take away our guns then there is no reason for them to not tell us what God i can serve, what things come out of my mouth, what car i drive, what food i eat and what i do in the privacy of my own home. I see this land going down the political correctness toilet. I think it is already a form of taken away my freedom of speech. So if you want that howitzer in your front yard, that 6000 dollar 50 cal.BMG rifle, or a 30 round clip on your fully auto AK, go right ahead, ill be right next to you at your side while fighting for it, all the while knowing that while i may not agree with what your wanting, your are helping me protect my rights.....BTW please dont point those things in my direction..;)

Just my 2 cents....

Aloha!

Who's defining the standards of competence? How much does the test cost? Who's administering it? Who's grading it? What's the difference between this test and literacy tests that were used to deny blacks the right to vote as recently as the mid-1960s?

What happened to the notion of innocent until proven guilty?

I'll wait and see what direction and how this goes before throwing in on it-- Being the cautious gun owner type---
