I came across a beautiful 1917 S&W today, it is in beautiful shape, original finish, has the lanyard loop, probably 95% or better, he must know what its worth, he wants $1200.00 for it. Has a holster with it but its been modified, has the color case hardening still vivid on the hammer and most still on the trigger....what is its value?

Is it a commercial model or gvt. issue? Too high for a "surplus" gun. Seems high for a preemo commercial. Would think 850.00 - 1050.00 ballpark if a commercial gun. Seems to be a sellers market of late however.

Its a goverment model, has the flameing bomb just in front of the hammer, good gosh its nice,,,but thats a lot of jack too.:D
