Just think, if this catches on "Hi Point" may become a generic name just like "1911" for guns made by several different companies!

Love the Picture George. It aptly describes my feeling when I saw it too. It's actually uglier than the Hi-point and the grip looks like a brick.

Dude, I seen a used, beat up Hi Point .45 in a pawnshop today with a $395 tag on it. I almost laughed myself into a coma.
Needless to say, I didnt look around much longer.

That's a Stallard Maverick.
FWIW, Hi-Points are Stallard knockoffs.
Sort of.
The history of the company is actually kinda convoluted.

Uhgghh! :barf:
They stock the look alike of that, the Hi-Point, at one of my local sporting goods stores. I tried to remain open minded about it, so I even went so far as to handle it (shudders). The things are like holding a mangled I-beam. They are top-heavy, not to mention just plain heavy. The functions are funny -- there's no slide release, so to get the slide to close, you have to eject the mag, slingshot the slide, and put the magazine back in.
OOooohhh, man... its image is burning itself into my retinas. I had better go look long and hard at my Hi-Power (not to be confused with Hi-Point!).

The possiblity of loosing fingers the first time you fire it, that's why not

Wow! That sure makes my Hi-Point look even better. That has to be the ugliest gun ever produced.

Why pay $75 for that Maverick when you can get this one (http://gunbroker.com/auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=9997552) for only $35!

A Modern version of the WWII Liberator. Ya Know, the one they Air Dropped into France for the Resistance Fighters. Maybe there is a movement to get these into South Central LA, NYC, DC and other high crime areas for law abiding Citizens to defend themselves against criminals with.
