M1 Carbine Question

I have the oportunity to purchase a National Postal Meter M1 Carbine. On the receiver it has US Carbine 30 cal M1, National Postal Meter. It has a 1456XXX serial number, Irco rear sight (from what I can make out of it) and the barrel has Underwood-43. The stock is in excellent condition, has 2 magazines (20 rnd) and has the olive drab snap on sling. Can anyone tell me about what year this may have been produced??? What is it worth???

What is it worth???It depends on what you're going to do with it--if it's a collector piece to you, it's worth a decent amount; if it's going to be a shooter, it's worth what you pay for it. I'd say about $700-$800, but that's just a random judgment based on what I know of how the CMP seems to be pricing things.

Pretty much a collection piece...I am really interested in the WWII era M1's.

It would have been made between Jan and Sept 1943, at least according to this chart:
