Will firing regular (non-subsonic) rifle rounds through a silencer hurt the silencer at all?

im not to sure it would hurt it but you will get a loud sonic crack if i remember correctly.

That is kind of like asking "Will driving my car at 80mph hurt it at all?". First, it kind of depends on the car and what condition it is in; but generally I would expect most rifle suppressors to handle supersonic ammo with no issues.

Generally, you can't get a rifle any quieter than an unsuppressed .22LR rifle using regular ammo because the sonic crack of the round creates its own noise.

I know a couple of guys who routinely shoot Long Range matches with silenced (ok, suppressed) .308s and the usual 175 gr bullet at 2700 fps. Muzzle blast is greatly reduced, although you still need ear protection, muzzle flash is eliminated, and recoil is reduced. The supersonic shockwave is still there, and the pit crew can hear the bullets cracking through the target.

I run 5.56 through a rifle can all the time, perfectly fine. It IS what the can was designed for;)

Thanks guys. I just wasn't sure if running supersonic ammo though a silencer would hurt it.
