Picked up a model 10-6 skinny tube for under $200 yesterday. In good working order but has seen the inside of a police holster for many years. If memory serves, the model 10-6 was late 60's or early 70's as the model 10-7 was late 70's. I believe that the -6 designation was for removing a screw somewhere on the heavy barrel model, so this one technically looks like a 10-5. Serial number is 55726

All of the post-war model 10 revolvers had a letter (or letters) prefix in the serial number. The number you listed may have been an assembly number. Check the butt of the gun for a number, even if you have to remove the stocks to do it.

10-4 = removed cylinder stop screw, spring & plunger in pencil-barreled frames (1962)
10-5 = changed the width of the front sight from .10" to .125" on pencil barrels (1962)
10-6 = removed cylinder stop screw, spring & plunger in heavy barrel frames (1962)

1968 = deleated diamond around stock screw on K-frame models.
