I voted. It's currently YES 67.5%. I would have liked to have been able to comment that I think Concealed Carry AND Open Carry should be mandatory in Cook County.

I wonder how skewed these polls are due to internet gun boards... Most of these places are very liberal, and citizens there dont want what we want in America.

Should the good citizens of Illinois allow their politicians and the State to regulate their God-given rights into non-existence?

The State Journal Register is the Springfield newspaper. Its readership is in a very pro-gun part of Illinois. Concealed carry is not a big issue here for most, but it would have passed years ago if not for the Chicago interests.
Actually, it did pass the legislature in 1995, but our illustrious Republican Governor vetoed it.

Anyway, even without out-of-state voters, I don't think you'd see the anti-gun position winning this downstate. In my experience, the main problem is that most people have never thought about it and, if asked, they assume that there's some sort of need-based system in place. They think a battered woman or a person who transports money to the bank each night can get a permit and carry a gun. They never bump up against the reality because they don't think they'll ever need to carry a gun themselves.

The really interesting thing is that the people I meet who really do oppose CCW almost never know that people in Missouri, Kentucky and Indiana carry guns legally.

I agree with you Don Gwinn. Many people in the circles I run in do not know that concealed carry is lawful in other states. They assume that there is some sort of need based system and they did not know that there are provisions for everyday people to legally carry a firearm.

In Illinois we dont know about such things because the idea is very foreign to us. Its time to spread the word.
