I carry either a small box (one or two guns) or a larger box (5 or 6 guns) to the range. I used to carry a bag, but got tired of rummaging for things. I don't necessarily use everything every trip, but I have it because it use it.

Guns
extra mags
ammo
clip loader
eyewear
ear muffs, ear plugs
targets
stapler and black binder clips (target attachment)
tough plastic dental pick
several brass drift punches
small brass hammer
Leatherman tool
gun oil
gun scrubber
q tips, cotton rags, cleaning patches

Thanks Stevie-Ray. I did a search for range bag but didn't find those before I posted.

Does anybody use the Glock hearing muffs, and are they any good?

My range bag has a different look for different days.

Pistol day will have correct ammo, stapler, hearing and eye protection, three inch shoot-n-see targets, pliers, two hand towels, ammo tray, pistols to go with afore mentioned ammo, chalk and markers, oil cloth.

There is something else, I'm sure, well maybe...

Mark.

I've learned over the years that most people (including myself) will suffer from bag-itis if they carry a large bag. Bagitis is the affliction of filling a bag up w/ stuff (needed or not) making it a PIA to carry around.
Me, I like smaller bags to carry ammo, earmuff, small screw driver, rag, oil and some orange dots. Guns are carried in a separate, locked case per state law.

Uh....never really thought about making a range bag, actually. Usually I just throw a loose conglomeration of anything I think I may need into my truck...

Damn, now I've got another project to work on.

Apart from the usual earmuffs and stuff, I pack a small medical-kit - military bandages and the like. Only had to replace one bandage so far... :banghead:

My club's range is mosquito heaven after about 6:00 PM (when I generally get free from work to shoot), so I have a bottle of bug spray that lives in my range bag as well.

So, my bags contents:
Guns
Mags
Ammo
Staple Gun
Sharpie
Bore-snakes
Silicon cloth
Club badges
Ear muffs
Safety glasses

The bag isn't that large, but I haven't had much trouble except when I was bringing lots of different ammo and both sets of ear muffs.

Most of the above, plus a Palm Viix running ballistics software, in case I want to look up the trajectory or wind drift. Yes, I'm a geek.

Mostly what others have listed, also a spotting scope or binoculars,

I also carry a "rite in the rain" (http://www.riteintherain.com/) pad and a fisher "space pen".

Right now a whole lot of 9mm and .223 ammo. Plus a bunch of 12 gauge Winchester Ranger buckshot, and a few Remington slugs.
I went to a Three Gun match last weekend and packed way too heavy because I couldn't find any info about the course of fire beforehand.

One of these days I have to go put all that ammo away but it's too hot to think about now.

1) I use an old milk-crate style box which sits nicely on the shooting bench; the guns (usually I bring a few) are carried separately; one is carried as a CCW (beside me in the car), but the others are in locked cases. The crate makes it easier to find things, and since it has a flat bottom it doesn't try to flop off the bench whenever I need to fish for something in there.

2) From now on, I at least intend to make part of the permanent kit a bit of ammo for every gun I carry (or any ammo I should acquire by chance, even if I *don't* have that kind of gun) -- once I showed up and had nearly no .45 for my 625 (drat!), had to make do only with 9mm in another pistol or two. There's rarely a day at the range when some .22 wasn't in order, either. If I have some in the range crate, I'll probably never regret it, even on days it goes unused.
