Firestar Pistols

Does Star firearms still service pistols?

I have a Firestar 9mm and the hammer is following the slide back into battery after almost every shot. The pistol has less than 1k rounds through it and I want to get it fixed.

I did take it to 2 diff "pistolsmiths" in the DFW area. Without even opening it up they said someone tried to do a trigger job and botched it. On one occasion I was accused of trying to do a trigger job and botching it! Boy did that rub me the wrong way!

I don't do pistol work and I'm looking for someone in the DFW area that does do good work on firestars. I do love this little 9nn and I wish I had a Firestar in .45 to match it.

So anyway. Does the Star firearms company do work on firestars? I heard they went broke years ago and this Star company now is not really related to the same one that made the Firestar.

Star doesn't exist any more - went bang around 1997. I understand that they merged with Astra and formed a new company called Astar, athough I'm happy to be corrected on this - I love Star handguns.

I think Numrich got all the parts from Interarms/Star that were in country.

Star is defunct.

They sold all the parts to a part house back in 99' or 2k I think.

I called them like 6 mo's later to buy a firing pin and extractor parts and they laughed and said they haven't even opened the crates yet and cataloged the parts. They had no idea when it would be done, but suggested it would be years as they had a huge warehouse packed full of similar crates.

I ended up talking a gun show guy into breaking up a gun or two for my parts.

It was sad to see Star go Tango Uniform, I think their products to be some of the most under-rated gems available.

The gentleman at the link below is in Spain and has provided Star parts to several members of with positive feedback.
