So the CZ 82 I ordered from AIM arrived today. The gun is as advertised--very good condition. There are a couple of minor blemishes on the metal and a scratch on the right grip panel, but nothing major.

I've disassembled, cleaned, lubed, and reassembled the pistol and will take it to the range later this week.

I've just got one question. The safety only seems to work in single action--that is, when the slide has been racked and the hammer is cocked. For the life of me I can't get it to work when the hammer is down. Is this how it is designed or is my safety defective?

It's the way it was designed. With the hammer down, why do you need a safety?:)

I don't normally use a safety with a double-action pistol, but I do want to be sure that the weapon is functioning properly.

Thanks for the information, though.

One more question--does anyone know where to get extra mags? AIM doesn't list them and makarov.com lists them as out of stock.

CZ83 (380) mags are a little easier to find, and work ok.

I consider the CZ82/82 and 75 series SA with a double action "second strike capability since they lack a decocker.

For, me they fact they do cocked and locked is a major virtue.

For extra mags try: www.cdnnsports.com. THey should have CZ82 mags which are the same except for the baseplates.
