Tomorrow I will be going to trade a SA 1911 9mm, and a S&W model 28 Highway Patrolman. I have a few guns in mind like the G21, HK USP45, SA laoded 45, or a Colt "Transitional" 1991a1. I will probably have money left over to buy a good bit of ammo if I choose the Glock or the Colt, but probably pay a little if I choose the other 2. I love reloading, but for me it's hard to reload for more than 1 caliber. What do you guys think?

I've owned most o the guns on your list & the only one I have left is the USP 45. It has proven to be the most consistent, most reliable, more dependable & most accurate one in the bunch ;)

Owned HKs USP full size and compact in 40 and 45 they were good.
Tooooo large and higher bore line than other makes(more flip).
Compare Kimber and the Smith Wesson 1911s to other (Colt,SA, etc.).
Found for the money they are best.
I carry a dial caliper and mic. when I check out a new pistol, break pistol down and check everything.
Tried em all and find for my use CCW other nothing beats 1911's.
I carry a Les Baer PII LW or a Kimber Tac Pro II every day.
I spent the last several years going through alot of handguns before my final decision.
This is what worked for me, but each to their own.

I assume he meant one of the first polished 1991's, before they began polishing both the frame and slide and using the new slide rollmark.

The Kimber Ultra CDP shoots like a dream, has unbelieveably mild recoil for a pistol of its size, is about the same width as a Kahr PM9, and is only about a half inch longer...get the Kimber for a great carry gun, and the Kahr for a slightly more concealable pocket gun.

I've been looking hard at the new Kimber RCP.
Brings back memories of ASP.
I like my SW 340sc, but am interested in carrying platform I shoot best with.
Do find CCW with Ultra comparable to J frames?
What about ankle holster carry?
Is your Ultra 100% realiable, and what pd ammo you load it with?

I has a couple of failures to feed in the first couple of boxes of ammo- Winchester white box ball ammo...after that its been 100% reliable...and you really won't believe how mild the recoile is on it; I don't know how Kimber does it.

Holding the CDP up to my M60 (2" barrel) the M60 is larger in every respect: 2/3" longer, and perhaps 1/8" to 1/4" wider.

With the large ambidextrous thumb safety its quick into action with 7 + 1 rounds of .45ACP.

As to weight, they feel pretty close, with the Kimber being possibly slightly heavier.

I've never tried to carry either in an ankle rig...

What's the intended use of what you're getting? I have the G21, H&K, Colt 1991 and others you didn't list (Sigs/Kimbers/more Colts). I shoot a lot of 45 acp. The only gun in the list that has been 100% reliable for me is my H&K USP compact. It has never malfunctioned. I can't say that about any of my other 45's, and they all shoot the same reloaded ammo. I've got around 6k rounds thru the H&K so far with no failures.

I do not carry, as my job does not allow me to carry a handgun or gun period. I'm a school teacher, who likes to shoot acurate handguns preferably in 45 acp, the only caliber. I have a few 1911 45's( Colt, SAx2, and a Dan Wesson). They are all very accurate and reliable. I can count on one hand the number of times they have all choked collectively. I'm just in the mood for something a little different. Saw a guy at the range the other day shootin an HK, bullseye style, 2-3 inch groups with hardball ammo (Federal Match). How do the glock and hk like lead. I have heard some bad things with the higher pressure calibers, but not much with the 45.

Last I knew, Glock was advising not to shoot lead thru their pistols...something about the different type of rifling they use that promotes lead buildup and overpressure.
