What are the options to convert a CAR-15 SP1 to a push-pin on the front? It has the two large screws and I would like to change that to a push pin, if there's a robust way of doing it. I would also like to be able to switch tops and need the push pin arrangement.
Years ago, I remember seeing a push pin for these, that had a ball detent. I always thought that looked a little shaky, but have never used one.

yeah, i'd like to know as well.
kestrel, CDNN has a conversion pin for sale,but i've never checked to see if this would be what we're looking for. anyone ?

The ball detent push pin conversion pins aren't shaky at all. They work quite well.
Years ago when the only AR available was the Colt, which used a screw on the front, there was a clevis-pin type push pin.
This is simply a pin with a spring loaded ball.
Todays version appears to be made of aluminum:
Even this worked well.
Today, there's a type that has a push pin locking button in it.
