Accuracy potential of FAL

As a new member, I don't know whether this topic has already been discussed exhaustively or not, but here goes anyway.

What are the opinions on the accuracy potential of the FAL in one of its premium configurations such as the DSA Medium Contour or Bull Barrel.

I have heard alot about the inherent accuracy of the AR-10, and was wondering if a similiar degree of accuracy was possible from the FAL.

I had the chance to see the DSA FALs up close at both the NRA meeting in Orlando in April and last fall at Knob Creek, and I must say, I am very impressed. I am toying with the idea of getting one of their more tricked out models, and was wondering if it would be suitable for, say, F-Class 600 yard competition.

Thanks for any input.

A freind of mine has a Stg 58 kit gun that is near if not at MOA.
Don't see why one of the deluxe jobs would not do as well or better.
If you can control the trigger (ugh) it will hit.

Let me give you a layman/hillbilly evaluation. I have only held or fired one FAL in my life. It is one a buddy of mine put together from a kit.
We went out one day and set up one gallon milk jugs filled with water at the range of 518 yards (measured with a Bushnell Rangefinder). He had a scope on the rifle. We fired from a fairly sold rest, a Shopmate workbench while sitting in a lawnchair. Once we dialed in enough elevation, we hit every jug on either the first or second shot. That doesn't give you any solid numbers to work with, but I was real impressed.

Guess they could shoot pretty good groups. I never saw the need for pin point accuracy with a battle rifle though. Minute of pie plate is good enough for me.

Next time I hold a Pennsylvania gathering, I'll let you try out my MOA, FAL.:D

Mine shoots MOA with Blackhills 175gr.

The medium and heavy barrel configurations of the DSA SA-58 rifles shoot sub-moa with at least a couple of loads in every test I've seen.
