Heard a guy talking today who said he was a member of some XD shooters group that the XD was in short supply. Said he was told by a Springfield rep. that the factory in Croatia cannot meet the demand and they do not want to compromise quality.. it sounds like a heap of crap to me..anyone heard anything like this?
Also who makes the XD sub-compact- Springfield or IMS.

Several local LE agencies are dropping their current issue weapons and going to the XD. One is getting rid of rugers another one is dropping their Glock 22s and going to the XD. Our local SO can carry whatever they want, and several deputies have already sold their glocks and grabed new XDs. the local gunsmith /gundealer is backordered on them, and most of the people on the list are LEO. There's even some rumors going around about several Federal agencies that are thinking of going to the XD.

You know they're catching on when a PD is buying them! Is it a shortage for all XD' or just a particular caliber?

I have been impressed with mine. It is a great shooter and seems like it will last. I recommend these to anyone looking at Glocks.

Last time I went into one of our local gun shops ( a couple of weeks ago) they had many XD's and some had been there for a while. I think it just depends on where your at. I've been told by a couple of shops around here that the .357 Sigs are real poor sellers and I myself had a hard time finding a shop that would do a trade or buy mine without taking a huge loss compared to other guns I've sold or traded.

A friend of mine waited 2 weeks to get his XD-9 from his FFL dealer. He may have been able to find one in stock somewhere if he looked around a lot, but in the Twin Cities area I have only seen the .40's in stock.

Several wholesalers list then as being out of stock or allocated. In a quick search, I wasn't able to find any at wholesale price.

The shop that sells them for about $580 still has plenty! :D
Other shops, they seem to come and go pretty quickly, and prices seem to be a bit higher than I remember seeing originally.

On a hunch, went to Davidson's gun gallery and all their XDs were 'allocated'. This means that demand exceeds supply..don't know how much I can tell by this..
