I've been wondering what the purpose of the hole on the side of the chamber is for. Its a little hole, on the right side of the rifle, near where the bolt lugs engage...whats this hole for?

I believe it's a gas vent should a case rupture. It helps redirect stuff away from your face.

Works too and teaches you to not shoot your uncles reloads in your rifle.

Yep, that there is the lanyard hole. You just string some para cord through that there hole and you got yourself a nice retention device....

:neener:

Just kidding, as stated before, I have heard it is there for a pressure relief system.
