Making an AK "Tacticool"

I got a 3 rail lower handguard and mag couplers for my WASR-3 coming from LA Police Gear.

Apart from everything... what all should i put on the rails? :D

I'm thinking this:

Vertical Foregrip
Tactical Light
Laser (Maybe)

Seeing how this will be my first ever Firearm with rails... I'm willing to bet some brands are crap, and others the cats me-ow.

Help me out if you can! thanks!

Frankly...I'd go for a stock AK 47.
They're the grandfather of tactical...

Anyway, if you gotta ask, it's probably better if you have the rifle for a whle so you can decide what's important to you.

The foregrip on an AK gets freakin' hot after just 100 rounds or so. I really like having a vertical foregrip on my Saiga conversion - - much more comfortable to shoot than my "traditional" AK (which requires gloves because the wood furniture gets so hot!)

I bought a UTG vertical foregrip for $15 that's every bit as good as the Tango Down I paid $60 for on my AR. In fact, the UPG is easier to install and remove, which is a big plus in my book. It has the inserts to accept tactical light pressure pads and it holds batteries. I got it from Area 51 tactical, here: http://www.blackrifles.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=650

Here it is on my Saiga:

Depending on your uses (home defense?) you may want to consider a decent quality weapon light.

oh god no. Abomination! just kidding (although I do prefer the traditional AK), I second what Glockman17366 said. Don't buy stuff because it looks cool, buy it because you think it will make the gun more ergonomic or fix some kind of deficiency.

Though I don't own it, I got to fire and almost bought a WASR with an Ultimak rail system on it. I was very impressed with the fit and function of the rail system and the owner had a stubby vertical grip made out of finned aluminum on the lower rail and a BSA (I think) reflex sight on the top rail. The addition of the vert grip and the red dot made the WASR not only more comfortable to shoot, but seemed to make it more accurate over a stock WASR on the range. I should have bought it... :(

+1

.......

the foregrip on the above Saiga conversion is a "stock" Saiga foregrip that was machined to add vent slots and to alter the profile. There's a guy on the Saiga-12 forum that will do it for you....or you can just go crazy with an end mill.

A mentioned already it is OEM.

"Devon C1" is the guy that can convert a regular forearm to look like that.

I'm a big fan of the Ultimak rail setup and a decent red-dot optic; that's about as 'tactical' as I get.

I bought most of the stuff for my Bubbafied AK from http://www.tacticalgears.com/Scripts/default.asp. Sights came from other places. I really like how it turned out but it makes some of the more traditional AK enthusiest cringe.

That is a polymer Galil mag in .223 caliber. They require the least modification of a Saiga rifle to function.

dont get me wrong... I absolutely LOVE the look on a traditional AK, but if mine was chambered in 7.62x39 Soviet, it would be a garunteed polished plain jane AK-47.

the .223 mag kinda throws off the image for me... so why not go all the way and make hugely unique rifle?
