S&W w/o exposed backstrap?

Looking for a .357, will probably get a GP100, but was wondering if S&W makes one without the exposed backstrap that the 686 has. Anyone know?
Thanks.

I am having a hard time understanding your question. You can cover the backstrap with a change of grips. For example, Magnas and Boots will expose the backstrap, Targets (and many other designs) will cover it.

Every 686 I've ever seen has the backstrap exposed, and the grips follow the contour. I've seen .38's that have a fully enclosed frame, where the grips completely wrap around, but I've never seen grips for a 686 that will cover the strap without making it uber-fat to try to hold.

My 686 came with Pachmayr "grippers" that a previous owner had installed. They cover the backstrap.
Not fat. I liked 'em enough a set has made its way onto my Python - I much prefer them to the factory originals.

I think he is describing the exposed backstrap like this:

But, the 686 will take ANY style of either K frame or L frame grips, and there are a ton of them out there that will cover the backstrap.
I have a set of Pachmyr Compacs on mine, which leave the backstrap exposed, but these are the grips that work for me. There are probably more grip choices for the K and L frame S&W revolvers than any other ever made, many of which cover the backstrap.

OH25 nailed it.
I guess I'm looking for Pachmayr's regardless. I can't stand Hogue grips--the set on my P90, even though only a year or so old, is just tacky and nasty as can be.

I put Nill grips on my 627. they cover the backstrap.
