Carry on an ATV

Pretty much what the title says.

Was riding the three wheeler around the woods the other day, trying to figure a good way to carry on a bumpy trail. Anyone do this on a regular basis? I'm assuming that a retention strap would come in handy, but I'm looking for any advice you may have.

Thanks!

I like a chest holster.

I just use whatever I would normally carry. Some of my OWB holsters have retention straps (for my larger revolvers) and some don't. Either way, unless the holster sags quite low, as long as your using a holster with good retention qualities, a bumpy trail shouldn't throw the handgun out.

Several people I know here carry their handguns in shoulder holsters when they bust the boonies on their ATVs. Works just fine for them.

In Oregon its illegal to carry a loaded firearm on an ATV so I can be no help. However It seems like anything with a retention strap should help.

I ride often and I always carry. When trying to be inconspicuous I utilize my regular IWB holster with a short barreled revolver. For me the most comfortable mode of carry is a cross draw OWB holster on a good belt.

I always use a retention strap on my OWB holster when riding...I really don't like retention straps otherwise.

There are some on the ATV holster options, but I have not tried any of them. A friend I ride with really likes that mode of carry.

This just hit me when riding an ATV it seems like drop leg thigh holster might be a n interesting idea, unless your trying to CCW.

My "ATV" eats hay and grain.

I just carry like I always do: 4" DA revolver in leather OWB holster with thumb break.

Thank you much for the help!

I was already tossing around the idea of a shoulder holster for the 1911, seems that it may not be a bad idea. I don't not trust my primary carry method to not fall off, it was more of a looking for new ideas, as I'd prefer to carry a bit bigger gun than a .380 for the four legged creatures. As I'd have to go buy new leather, figured I might as well get some input.

So, I guess I get to start looking more realistically into getting a shoulder rig :)
