Did I make a smart buy? How well can I make it shoot? Please all you 338 give me tips.

I personally like the BAR's, I've got a Gr.III in 30-06 and a Gr. IV in .270. The .338 makes a great gun in my opinion, some will tell you it's too much for deer, but what's too much. I'm going huniting with a group of 10 guys in December and the smallest caliber you can shoot is a .375 H&H, that's for deer, pigs and coyotes.

You may have to play around with ammo weight to find what it likes but both of mine shoot 1.25-1.5" at 100 yards for 4 rounds. It's not match grade but certainly good enough for hunting.

I think you did well. I picked up a BAR in .338 Win two years ago and was surprised to get 1 MOA with Remington factory 225 gr.
The recoil seems to be less than my Sako .338 Win.
It would have been nice to have an adjustable trigger though.
