Stiff LNL AP

It doesn't seem to feel as smooth as it once did. Also, if I lower the press all the way (like when seating a primer), it "sticks." Any ideas on what might be going on? I stripped it down so it doesn't even have a shell plate and lubed it as well, but no luck.

Bottom Gun

I sometimes get residue on my ram from the burned powder or priming compound or something in the fired cases which makes it sluggish.
I have found that cleaning the ram with solvent frees it up again.
I don't grease them since grease or oil will just attract more debris.
Hope that helps.

The grease zerts are on the press for a reason. I give a 1/2 squirt from a grease gun every 5000 rounds or so on the main ram. Also, based on your description, it sounds like the small threaded piece that actually seats the primers (the one that gets switched from large to small primers), may be sticking after the ram goes all the way down (when the inner "pin" would normally push up) and seat a primer. Sometimes, some powder can get in this mechanism. I usually blow them out with canned air and spray some one shot in them when switching between the small and large seater plugs.
Hope this helps. I love my LnL.

It's actually sticking in this position with or without the seater plug installed. Just as a sanity check, when you push the ram all the way to seat a primer and let go, it comes back to it's normal resting position on its own right? Mine does not.

Matt there is a spring under the subplate that is supposed to help push the subplate up after priming.. is yours still there? FWIW I don't recall mine "springing up" after priming.

Wiped away all the grease on the ram with a paper towel and it fixed the problem. There must have been something in the grease, it really felt as though it got damaged. I'm going to grease it up again with clean grease and see what happens. Thanks for all the help and suggestions.

Update: I greased it and it seemed a little slower but still working as it should, then after about 20 rounds it started sticking again. Turns out the two bolts on the ram shaft were loose and must have been rubbing. I guess my cleaning it must have reset it somewhat. If you have a LNL, this may be something worth checking every 5,000 rounds or so.
