I notice that Saiga rifles lack dimpled receivers. Do converted ones have mag wobble like the Romanian rifles do? I know all AKs have SOME wobble, but do Saigas have MORE wobble?

nalioth August 8, 2007, 04:15 PM Not that I've noticed. Not all Saigas are undimpled. Deer Hunter August 8, 2007, 04:58 PM What kind of wobble are we talking about? Magazine wobble? The Deer Hunter August 8, 2007, 05:00 PM Do converted ones have mag wobble like the Romanian rifles do? I know all AKs have SOME wobble, but do Saigas have MORE wobble? I think they are talking about the magazines:) Deer Hunter August 8, 2007, 05:11 PM I see...... Depends on what you do to the mag and which mag you are going to go with. Galil 12 rounders have no wobble whatsoever, but on some of my orlites there is some side-to-side wobble due to the fact that I took just a little more shoulder off than was needed. On two that I got perfect, however, there is no side-to-side play. There is a slight back and forth wobble. None of this affects performance, however. Don't Tread On Me August 8, 2007, 05:16 PM The one's without dimples do not wobble magazines. They have inserts and they are done correctly - unlike the junk WASRs. No matter which one you get, they are all great quality. Have no fears at all. Prince Yamato August 8, 2007, 05:43 PM So they basically have non-dimpled dimples :D cool! Thanks! Navy87Guy August 8, 2007, 07:42 PM There have been a lot of reports recently of people buying new Saigas with the dimples...so maybe the factory has changed the set up. I have a 2006 model and it is dimple free -- but the mags have no noticeable wobble. Jim MD_Willington August 8, 2007, 07:50 PM My S223 doesn't have the dimples either... I have heard that the Surefire mags may wobble... I'm interested in where to get the metal 12 round galil mags though... Deer Hunter August 8, 2007, 08:00 PM CDNN is where I got mine. http://www.cdnninvestments.com/22312imistee.html SSN Vet August 10, 2007, 11:48 AM ditto what Jim said....but I,m guessing it's the newer Saigas that don't have the dimples. I've only seen the dimples on photos of the EAA Saiga's and I don't think there around any more. assuming your talking about mil. surp. mags ina an x39...you didn't mention TOU August 10, 2007, 12:04 PM There have been a lot of reports recently of people buying new Saigas with the dimples...so maybe the factory has changed the set up. I have a 2006 model and it is dimple free -- but the mags have no noticeable wobble. Jim I had read somewhere that Clyde of RAA had requested this on future shipments. None of my 7 Saiga's have them, no worries. JWarren August 10, 2007, 12:53 PM My Saiga 308 is an EAA import, and has no dimples. This could be, however, because it is the 308 caliber one. No Magazine wobble with the stock magazine and very little with the FBMG ones. -- John GTSteve03 August 10, 2007, 01:17 PM My 7.62x39 Saiga has dimples (I specifically looked for one with) and it locks up quite tight. No mag wobble at all. I got mine about a year ago so its one of the newer RAA ones.
