Well I have always said you can have it Good, fast or cheap. Pick two.
I have two pistols to reparkerize and givin that good is a requirement for me, does anyone have and suggestions on someone who is fast and someone who is cheap?
I always hear comments on Tripp research but it appears they only do a guncote finish. I want to go with parkerization. Everything else I have had refinished has gone through Robar so I haven't followed most of the threads in the past. Search was not very helpful in for this subject.
Thanks for any advice.

Brownell's is a gunsmith supply house in Iowa (www.brownells.com). They sell the chenicals and other equipment needed to do Parkerizing to the trade. They might recomend a professional refinisher in you're area.

If your going to send your guns out for refinishing... there are better options than park. Some are quite affordable.
Black-T, Roguard, Metalcol... What guns are you wanting to get refinished and what do you use them for?

I have about a dozen guns with various wonder finishes. These are 1911's and I just want them parkerized. They are not really carry guns. I do have to send them out as there is no one in the area that does refinishing that is reputable.

Unlike blueing, Parkerizing is something you can easily do yourself - provided you know someone who has a sand-blaster. The process does not involve caustic chemicals. You simply mix a consentrate with water and bring it to a boil on the kitchen stove. After "blasting" the parts you clean them and then, using tongs, put them in the Parkerizing bath. They will start to bubble. In 3 to 5 minutes the bubbling will stop. Take them out and rinse them off. Then dry and oil. Anything and everything you need can be purchased from Brownells. I've done several handguns at an average cost of about $10.00 per gun.

Try some cold blue on worn areas before you send gun for entire refinish. It tends to turn dark gray rather than blue on guns that were originally parked because surface of gun wasn't polished out before finish was applied. I've done a Springfield mil-spec, a Systema and Colt Commando (revolver) this way and you cannot see were touchup was done.
