I've had two different 405s on my 340 now, and the recoil pad is separating from the grip on the left panel.

Read about it here--

...and you can see a picture of the problem here:

I would still buy the grip--but has anyone else had this problem?

I'll bet you dollars to donuts, they will do all they can to come up with a solution. They are great folks to deal with.

fjh are these the CTs with S&W Logo that came with the 340 from the S&W factory?

Aftermarket?

Iggy: I've gotten one new 405 from Crimson Trace already; that's this one. The first one had the grip pull out on the lower part of the left side. The second one looked like this after shooting ten rounds of Gold Dot 135-gr 38SPL+P loads. That has stout recoil, but not like .357 hot rods. I've shot no hotrods in this revolver.

It would appear that my handgrip style has something to with it--but I don't really know I would change that. (I do know how to adjust grips for accuracy issues).

DAdams: No, these are the "CTC" label, bought in the online aftermarket.

I have no worry about CTC standing behind the grips--I'm just curious now about how widespread a problem this is.

Uhhh, them Taurus must have infected those S&W guns laying near by in the show cases. :D

Once you get that Taurus taint, you're screwed.
