SOMEBODY STOP ME! (I bought another revolver + pics)

The local gun club does a informal PPC shoot once or twice a month. I want to shoot with them but my 4" revolver is a S&W M619 which is a 7 round revolver but PPC is shot with 6 rounds. Because it's just too hard to load 6 rounds in a 7 round revolver I just "HAD TO" buy a 6 round revolver!! :uhoh: I was at Cabela's this weekend and they had 4 used S&W Model 686's in the case. Only 3 of them were M686 and the 4th was a M686+. Of the 3 only 1 of them was manufactured before they started to use MIM parts, luckily that was the best of the three.
It's a Model 686-2 which was manufactured in 1987. It is in outstanding condition, has a red insert in the front sight and the rear adjustable sight has the white outline. I haven't taken it to the range jet buy that will happen this weekend. Range report top follow but in the mean time, here are a few photos.

Well, you have to do what you have to do! Very nice, a satin bead blast would be just too nice.

If you're having buyer's remorse, I'll be glad to take it off your hands :)
Still scouting for one in 3"

Naaa, no remorse at all.. I did pay a lot for it though, it was $550...
Now that I have this revolver I might sell my 4" Model 619 but I'm not sure yet.

I'd swap the grips for something else, but other than that, it's a freakin' beaut!

Thank you, you're right, it is a beauty IMO too.
Actually, I bought those stocks off Ebay because those are the stocks that are supposed to be on that revolver. I have a set of Pachmayr Gripper grips which came with the revolver when I bought it. I'm going to use both this weekend and see which feel better when shooting.

Unless you've got huge paws, ditch them wood target stocks and get some Pachmyer grips. Just a suggestion, do as thou please. :D

Purdy, given the price of the new guns, $550 seems more and more reasonable these days. Good luck with it. I think I have a pair of the Pachmyer finger groves that came with one of my guns I will try to dig up. LOL with it. Bill

Just picked up a 4" 686-2 myself.:) No pics yet since I sent it to S&W for some work. The barrel was clocked, some screws were buggered and I prefer a W/O rear sight to the blued one it has. Even with the work, it is still a bargain and when it returns, it will be factory blessed and like-new with a polished forcing cone.
I slapped some rosewood Hogue finger grips on it and it is really pretty, plus Hogue finger grips fit me real well.
All my pistols have wood Hogues and they soak up the recoil.

I bought a used (excellent condition) blued M581 a coupe years ago; paid $250 for it, and wondered whether I was paying too much.
Obviously not . . . .
