What are SAR-1's going for in Northwest Florida these days? Whether the import halt turns out to be true or not, it got me thinking that since I've been wanting one, I might want to get one sooner rather than later.

Any shops within a reasonable drive of Pensacola that have good selection and prices?

Hey benEzra, I'm in your neck of the woods & think your best bet may be a gun show. I've seen new SAR-1's @ the Pensacola Fairgrounds Gunshow for $400. If you don't mind driving to Biloxi, Cook's Gun Shop usually has a pretty decent selection of military-style rifles plus they do special orders. I don't know of any shops in the P-cola area that stock SAR-1's. We used to have a couple of FFL's that advertised in the Thrifty Nickel who did special orders but they've gone out of business...

Good luck on your quest!

Your best bet is to just order one if you can't find one for a reasonable price locally.

If the gunshow folks get any whiff of SARs becoming hard to get you can bet they will jack up the prices. I believe the next gunshow in your area is August 8-9, hosted by the Southern Classic folks. They will also be in Tallahassee August 2-3.

A couple of months ago they were around the $350 range at the gunshows.

I'm quite glad that I just bought a Romanian SAR-1 especially in light of the rumors going around.Got it from a friend at work who has an FFL for $310. The local surplus store that I frequent has them for $375, so I feel that I did well.
