Ok, even with the highest sight, sight #6, my P99 .40 is still shooting around two feet low! Even at close distances it is way off it's mark! The rifling in the barrel looks fine! What could be causing this insane inaccuracy???????? HELP!!!!!!!!

1. do the brass test. (place one empty case on the front sight so it balances, pull trigger. if brass falls off, you're flinching)

2. fill a magazine half with dummy rounds, half with live rounds, in ramdom order. if your gun miggle moves lots when the gun doesn't fire, you're flinching.

3. if you pass the brass and dummy tests, file down the front sight a little at a time untill it's zeroed.

Are you certain the front sight is inserted completely and no junk is holding it up?

Have you tried benching it & seeing what kind of groups you get? has someone else shot the gun w/ the same results?
Need to start ruling out as many possibilities to narrow down the exact problem.

If you are referring to the interchangeable front sights, I believe the HIGHER the front sight, the LOWER you will shoot. Try one of the lower front sights.

Put the #4 front blade in and try your pistol from a solid rested/benched shooting position.
It should be right on with the #4 out to 25 yds. or more with 180's or 165's.

Try different ammo .

My P99 .40 is right on elevation-wise at 10 yards with the #4 sight that came installed, and the 155 grain loads I prefer. 180's should shoot even higher. You should (as DougB said) be using a lower sight to raise your point of impact, not a higher.

Like I said...put the #4 front sight blade on your pistol. You should find that it's the correct one for it IF you do your part.

Walther ships their pistols with this sight blade installed on new pistols.

Try different ammo .

This is not the problem.

My pistol DID have hte #4 sight on it! I switched it out for a #6 since the #4 was hittng way too low. I suppose I will try the #2 sight next.

Well then, I'm inclined to think it is the shooter and not the pistol/sight/ammo combination.

I have four P99s, two in .40 and two in 9mmx19. When I fired any of them with the factory supplied sights, regardless of caliber, I found the #4 front blade to be the best for ALL distances with a wide variety of ammo.

Good luck with yours. ;)

In order to raise the bullets impact you need a shorter front sight, not a higher one.

Did anyone say "shorter front sight"? ;)

Just came back from the range. Even with site #3 (the lowest one) the gun still shoots low and is still way inaccurate!
