Does anyone know about how many 2 3/4" 12ga shells (unfired) will fit in a 50 cal ammo can?

Thanks,

Fred

If you know the internal volume of an ammo can in cubic inches and then measure the cubic inch volume of the standard 25 round box of shells and divide for a guesstimate of how many 25 rd boxes would fit. Multiply that number by 25 and you have a quick wag. Exact number without boxes? You'd have to stack them in and count. Boooring.

250, if you take the time place the in one at a time and alternate.

A box of 100 measures 4 1/4" wide by 4 1/4" tall by 10 " long so I would have guessed less then 200.....

Just tried a quick fit with boxes of 25 and I could only fit 7 boxes of 25 but there was still room for in the can for 6 smaller boxes of 5 so 205 shells fit easily in boxes:)

About 200, if you leave them in the 5-round boxes like buckshot and slugs come in.

(drum roll please)...
About 200, give or take. Actually, you could probably cram some more in, but 200 fits comfortably.
