I have been extremely lucky that I have a girl that actualy asks to be a part of shooting and the local shooting matches.

I picked her up her own pistol for the local match last week, and two days later she competed. Granted, it was only for the Tyro category, but she still beat out a couple of other guys!

She was very excited... hopefully just the fuel she needs to continue shooting!

I've won a couple of rifle matches, and nearly every time that comes up, someone says: "Boy, don't ever let me make YOU mad!" -Like I would ever shoot anyone for any reason.

It's an old stale joke. I've never seen a firearms related injury at a gun match, nor met any competitive shooter who had anger/violence/emotional problems.

When I meet golfers I don't make a crack about what the par is on their ex- wife. I don't mention to swimmers that if I ever need someone drowned I'm going to call them, or say to softball players that they are my go-to guy when someone needs a little blunt-objecting.

I bet you can make your girlfriend mad as heck, even dump her with never a concern that she is going to shoot you. Ever. Period.

Congrats on her first win. Hope there are many more to follow. I think think the shooting sports develop and refine the best parts of a human being.

Make sure you don't make her angry

That is a nasty remark, right out of the anti's script, to the effect that somebody is a danger of violence because she knows how to shoot. The smiley face does not make it all right.
