If that's what you're putting in your Hope Chest you're going to have an interesting marriage. :)

Now guys are starting to pack a hope chest???? Gals are that scarce where you live at??:D

If you are serious about storing a couple of guns in there I'd definitely put some dessicant packs in there and check them frequently.

Only thing I would check to make sure of is that the wood is properly dried. If not, it'll get awfully humid in there awfully quick.

A couple sacks of dessicant could not do any harm...

Since you live in Oregon and it can get a might rainy there, that cedar chest might prevent moths & mildew from accumulating, but it won't do anything to keep out moisture. Wood has a danger of absorbing & retaining moisture.

Store you non-important documents in thar. Stuph like diplomas, certificates, family bible, old books, photos. Keeps bugs & light out.

BTW, I should speak. All my stuff is in plastic sheet protectors in an overstuphed 2" binder that I picked up for free (cheap, cheap, cheap).

Also good for leather holsters and slings.

Powder horns. Larvae see them as chow. Hey, if you don't want the chest, I've got plenty of powder horns and some rare books.
