I just bought my first Mosin-Nagant, and I'm having a bit of trouble in de-ciphering the stamps and such on it. Here's a really rough representation:

The year and the Soviet Hammer and Sickle make sense to me...but the rest are confusing. Anyone have any ideas? :o :uhoh:

The Wreath/Triangle proof are indications this is a Ishevsk M44 Carbine, obviously made in 1945.

The Triangle means Ishevsk date AFTER 1928. The Wreath means Soviet AFTER 1928.

The Y in a circle means black powder firing proof.

The other two I'm not 100% sure on. I'm not in front of my books so I can't be sure. They're proof marks of some sort, probably test or inspection proofs.

Go to mosin-nagant.net for info on Russian and Soviet proof marks and any other info that you might need on the mosin rifles.
