To set the stage for my tale of woe...
I've been on the lookout for an N-frame S&W for a while now. For some reason they're scarcer than hens teeth around here, and I don't want to deal with shipping one in from out of state. Yesterday I happened to hear of a 625 model of 1989 about 80 miles away, and the guy wants $465 for it. I'm thinking, "Oh Yeah, a 45 wheelgun would be perfect", and I'm getting all twitchy figuring how to finagle a new gun into the house. I'm fortunate in that my wife is very understanding about these things, she was just saying at the range that she was going to take my 686 and keep it - perfect excuse, right? Things are looking good for a road trip this weekend.
Since we carpool, I decided to tell her what my plan was. She looked at me quite calmly and said, "Another 45? Why don't you get the ones you already have set up the way you want them before you get another one?"
It's not fair! She's using logic and common sense against me! Just 'cause I can't seem to get my 1911's to that final stage where I'll quit changing them, or get the holsters and other stuff I need, or get that FAL kit built. I'll admit that I've even said I needed to get some stuff done before I got any more guns (what kind of drugs was I on? I can't believe I SAID that), but that's no reason to bring me out of acquisition mode, dammit!
And then, to cap the evening off, while giving my niece her very first ever driving lesson, she got the brake and gas pedals reversed, and nailed a tree with my truck. It wasn't much to start with, but it's less now. Discretionary gun funds are now going to have to buy a fender, hood, and grill for an '85 Ford.
sigh. Oh, well. Stuff happens.
Thanks, I needed to vent.
