Someone up there is conspiring against me!

To set the stage for my tale of woe...

I've been on the lookout for an N-frame S&W for a while now. For some reason they're scarcer than hens teeth around here, and I don't want to deal with shipping one in from out of state. Yesterday I happened to hear of a 625 model of 1989 about 80 miles away, and the guy wants $465 for it. I'm thinking, "Oh Yeah, a 45 wheelgun would be perfect", and I'm getting all twitchy figuring how to finagle a new gun into the house. I'm fortunate in that my wife is very understanding about these things, she was just saying at the range that she was going to take my 686 and keep it - perfect excuse, right? Things are looking good for a road trip this weekend.

Since we carpool, I decided to tell her what my plan was. She looked at me quite calmly and said, "Another 45? Why don't you get the ones you already have set up the way you want them before you get another one?"

It's not fair! She's using logic and common sense against me! Just 'cause I can't seem to get my 1911's to that final stage where I'll quit changing them, or get the holsters and other stuff I need, or get that FAL kit built. I'll admit that I've even said I needed to get some stuff done before I got any more guns (what kind of drugs was I on? I can't believe I SAID that), but that's no reason to bring me out of acquisition mode, dammit!

And then, to cap the evening off, while giving my niece her very first ever driving lesson, she got the brake and gas pedals reversed, and nailed a tree with my truck. It wasn't much to start with, but it's less now. Discretionary gun funds are now going to have to buy a fender, hood, and grill for an '85 Ford.

sigh. Oh, well. Stuff happens.

Thanks, I needed to vent.

OK, it's simply this. When you want a new gun, just make up your mind and go get it. When you start discussing in with the wife, more often than not she'll remember something you said a long time ago and shoot you down.
The only reason to need her permission is if she is the only one employed in the household and the budget is under her control. :uhoh: (I resemble that remark, lack of work due to injuries.)
Ifits your money and you can afford it, just go do it.
As for car pooling, if you have your own transportation, just take it for a day and go run your gunshop visits.

OH, and as for getting exising projects finished before buying a new gun, well, if you go that way you'll get your next gun about the time your using a walker to get around with.

When I buy a new gun, I keep my mouth shut. Less home problems that way.

My ex-wife used to snivel and whine about my buying guns.

When it comes to wives, significant others, etc...always remember, it is easier to ask for forgiveness, than it is to ask for permission.

So far I have bought 3 guns in 4 months in that manner, and she has yet to shoot me with any of them....which is what she keeps threatening to do.:uhoh:

I'd rather drill a 1/8" bit through my hand than teach a family member to drive. After one trip out with my son, I sent him to driving school.

I have two secret "gun credit cards" that I use to buy new guns. the bills come to me at work and the wife is none the wiser. I am the sole earner, she gets whatever she wants whenever she wants it. I figure the hassle of explaining my hobby needs to her is not worth the effort of trying to win the argument.

I love her - but dammit she is a pain when it comes to buying what I want.
I save myself the hassle and just keep it separate.

Between her and the three kids, they are kept vey happy - I just have to do the same for myself!

Works like a charm and I keep myself in new guns as the balance gets paid down each time.

I just went through the same thing with a model 65. NIB with no lock and the hammer mounted firing pin. I put it on layaway before vacation, my wife was involved in a accident, no one hurt thank Goodness and all funds sucked dry. I ended up trading a used 629 with the lock in on the 65 as I didn't want to stick the shop with the layaway. Oh well!

Well, I went and got it this evening - anyone know when a 625-4 with a BSF5### serial number might have been made?

As for the wife, well... she asked to see it, pulled through the DA trigger, grinned and said, "NICE!".

I think I'll keep her for a while.:D
