I know these places are pretty bad for handguns and CCW, but out of curiosity, what restrictions do these places put on full capacity magazines and liberty rifles?

Not familiar with the term "liberty rifle" but this is what not allowed in Maryland

"It is unlawful to possess, sell, offer to sell, transfer, or receive a so-called "assault pistol." Current owners may possess such a pistol if it was registered with the state police before August 1, 1994. A registered pistol may be inherited. The following semiautomatic pistols or their copies are "assault pistols":

AA Arms AP-9; Bushmaster; Claridge HI-Tec; D-Max Industries; Encom Mk-IV, MP-9, and MP-45; H & K SP-89; Holmes MP83; Ingram MAC 10/11 and any variations, including Partisan Avenger and SWD Cobray; Intratec TEC-9 and DC-9 (centerfire only); P.A.W.S.; Skorpion; Spectre; Uzi; Weaver Arms "Nighthawk

After June 1, 1994, it is unlawful to sell, offer to sell, transfer, or receive any firearm magazine (except a tube magazine for a .22) that will hold more than 20 rounds. Possession is not prohibited."

As a side note the outdoor range that I shoot at strongley suggests that 30 round mags not be used. This was a result of the sniper shootings in the DC/MD/VA area last fall.

MD is a 20 round and under for in state magazine purchase
you are allowed to possess high caps

we did not pass a bill this year that would of evicted
most black rifles from the "Free State"

most "assault weapons" require the same MDSP
check and wait routine as a handgun purchase

There are no restrictions on firearms in any of these places . . .

. . . if you are rich, or well-connected, or a high-ranking member of the government.

Ordinary serfs, however, are expected to die rather than defend themselves.

Regarding Maryland, I think they can have high capacity mags but are not allowed to import new ones into the state for sale. If you buy one in another state (like gun friendly VA) that's your business.

Liberty rifle = black rifle.

So in MD, it's kosher to buy an AR-15 and purchase 30-rd mags out of state? Can they be imported i.e. shipped there if I resided there? Nnot that I am, but want to know how bad it is before I rule it out a good gig.

What about the other places?

most shops will not ship a 30 rounder to MD

but they will ship to DC which has no high cap mag restrictions

MD has a few more years of effort until its a fit place for gunnies

we could use some help

I'm thinking of getting a Bushmaster AR-15 in protest over them being sued over the sniper case. Does that mean I'll have to do the State Police "NOT DISAPPROVED" routine and wait 7 days? How can they possibly think the "black rifles" are any more dangerous than hunting rifles? Bloody hell, I thought that stupid wait period/background check only referred to handguns. Grrrrrr:cuss:

The waiting period is for regulated firearms. Those of course being the most Eeevvil of all weapons. All handguns (of which many are no longer allowed into the state due to the shell casing law), and 'assault' style weapons with the right features.

So, I can buy a new in box Bushmaster 20" heavy barrel over the counter and walk out the door with it because it's a 'varmint rifle', but a 16" dissapator is more Eeevvil and thus regulated and requiring a waiting period.

Clear as mud now?

What about importing and transporting from out of state?

What about importing and transporting from out of state?Doesn't matter. I think that PRNJ allows you to block the evil extra capacity up, though. A lot of people do this to AR mags, and then get laughed at when they go to the United States to shoot.

Oh, yeah. Shotguns, you get 6 rounds.

For example, my preban AR mags have never existed in the state of NJ with the ability to load more than 2 or 3 rounds. In the gulag, I use the Klinton Klips, lest I have a lot of explaining to do.

In America, it's pretty much a race to see whether I can take em apart, remove the blocks, and put em back together before the laughter dies down.

Most places will not ship mags over 20 rounds into MD. But I have friends in PA. So I send all my 30 rounders to their houses and just pick them up and drive home.

You can buy AR's, AK's and most other Semi Auto "Liberty" rifles. But you'll have to wait 7 days to take them home. And MD is, belive it or not, Class III friendly. But CCW's are darn near impssible to get :(

One thing that most people forget to mention regarding MD's "liberty rifle" laws is that you must also be 21 to purchase them. They are basically treated like purchasing a pistol here.

Being under 21 I find it extremely humorous that I can only legally purchase hbar AR's but then get a new, non-hbar upper. Makes the law kinda pointless, no?

Its also funny how I cant buy just a lower as it is a "regulated firearm", but I can buy the fully assembled hbar AR.

Makes you wanna :banghead:

Cook County, the County that surrounds Chicago, has a ban on "assault weapons." Daley tried to get it extended to the rest of the state this year, but failed in committee. Whether we can beat him three more times, I don't know.

Yay, another chance for me to rant about MA's stupid laws.

To purchase a liberty rifle or full cap mag you need either a class A or B license. Both are may issue and depend on your police chief not being :cuss:

In Mass. the chiefs may refuse to issue. Now they have to give a reason for denial within 30 days of the refusal, which if it isn't warranted, the person has the right of regress and may petition the courts.

When you apply for a license in Ma, the state police get the application/renewal forms, do a background check and submit it back to the town/city with their blessing or not, based on the persons criminal history. The chief then issues or denies the application for CCW. If the state says no, he has his reason. If the state says yes, he has to give a reason for denial within 30 days [ which wasn;t the case until four years ago, roughly ].

Class A CCW allows all high cap handguns/longuns ownership carried.
Everything else is moe restrictive as to carry concealed and high cap ownership/carrying in public.
